I have an old Canon A1 film camera that I like to photograph with at times. My son brought his Fuji Instax camera and we visited a farm nearby to create some images. I’ve spoken before about how I love the look of film. The grainy, messy and nostalgic look of film photos has just a different feel from a digital image. Grandma and grandpa were in town from Iowa and served as wonderful models.
I get the images developed for a few bucks and receive just the negatives. I use a scanner to process the images and create enlargements if needed. It is as close as using a darkroom as I can get without the hassle of an actual darkroom.
Although, I have seen some pretty cool home darkrooms that folks have created with limited space and materials. I also know you can purchase a set of chemicals for about $20-$30 bucks to get you going and utilize your kitchen to develop film. But for me, I would rather spend $4 and have someone do it for me.
