As 2018 quickly approaches, I was thinking back on this year. We sold a home. Purchased a home. Renovated a home. Quit a job. Turned down jobs. We laughed. We cried. But most importantly, as a family, we stayed close. Probably closer than we have ever been. It dawned on me yesterday as we ventured out in the 18 degree temperatures to feed our duck friends at the lake nearby, that as a family we are appreciating the simple things. As Mallards were swarming around our feet, I felt content and thankful. Watching my son throw bread and laugh and scream in excitement sent me into dad tears. You know, the kind where you pretend to rub your eyes because you are tired then look away. I was thankful. Very thankful.
