Whenever I need inspiration or am seeking a different approach to photography, I photograph birds. Not up close, but from a distance. (Honestly, I cannot photograph up close anymore as I ridded myself of all of my Canon equipment, including my 300mm)
I’ve always been drawn to wide angle photos, vs. macro, but it’s just how I prefer to shoot. Birds, especially birds flying inspire me. Maybe it’s the gracefulness of watching or the unpredictability of the image? I don’t know. I like how you can frame each picture differently while a group of birds fly overhead utilizing the light, trees, the sky, whatever.
I’ve started to keep a log of my birding adventures with photography just so I can remember why and how I photographed at that particular time. It’s interesting to go back and look for that needed inspiration. If you care or are curious of what I document with, I photograph with a Leica M9 + 35mm f2. Also a Fuji XE2 + 35mm 1.4.
